“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.
Matthew 6:9-13 (NIV)
This is how the Son of God taught His disciples to pray.
We, too, are to pray this prayer as sons and daughters of God.
Since we have the privilege of praying to "Our Father" then we must be His children.
Do you believe that Truth?
Do you live like you believe that Truth?
Matthew West's new song, Hello, My Name is, was playing on the radio one morning this week as my son and I were driving to school. Some of the lyrics go like this:
Hello, my name is regret
Hello, my name is defeat
These are the voices. . . These are the lies
And I have believed them for the very last time
My son looked over at me and said, "Mommy, this song is all about your issues."
He knows I sometimes struggle with self-worth and believe those lies that cause me to feel defeated some days.
But I kept listening to the song because there is more to my story than lies and defeat. And my son knows where I go for my help in these times.
Hello, my name is Child of the One True King
I've been saved. I've been changed.
I have been set free
Amazing grace is the song I sing
"Do you like this song?" he asked me.
"Yes, I do," was all I said, feeling a little embarrassed at the exposure.
That morning I heard Truth in those lyrics. So did my son. And I wanted to share that Truth with you today.
Your name is Child of the One True King
You have been saved
You have been changed
You have been set free.
So live today in that freedom; recognize the lies the Enemy is feeding you and receive, instead, your daily bread from your Father in heaven.
Let's pray: Dear Father, Thank you for lavishing your love upon us and calling us Yours. By faith we receive this Truth today. Take any thoughts that attack our minds telling us we are not worthy and bring them under the authority of Christ. Lead us by Your Spirit and Truth in every situation of our day.
Amen
