Oftentimes the weeks can be so hard, jam-packed with cooking, cleaning, morning routines, bedtime routines, ministry, carpools, work, volunteering, running errands. . . and the list can go on!
I don't know about you, but some weeks I get beat up pretty badly. In the midst of serving God and serving my family, the enemy would like nothing more than to pull the plugs on all the blessings in my life. My days are a constant battle of fighting hard and resting often with a Bible in one hand and a hot cup of tea in another.
Weekends are a good time to make connections from the disconnections that happen in the busyness, especially among friends. I love my weekend coffee times with friends, chatting at sporting events with other parents, and worshiping and serving alongside my sisters in Christ on Sunday Mornings.
The cartoon above was a reminder to me of how we are to treat each other during our precious moments of reconnecting on both weekdays and weekends. It is about sight. It is about seeing needs and meeting them. It is about seeing the heart behind the actions and receiving. It is about loving each other through the use of all the senses: taste, touch, sight, hearing, and smell. It is about encouragement. It is about being Jesus with skin on to someone else.
I read a poem this week written by an unknown author. It made an impression on my heart so I thought I would share it with you.
I Know Something Good About You
Wouldn't this world be better,
If folks whom we meet would say
"I know something good about you,"
And treat you just that way?
Wouldn't it be splendid,
If each handshake, good and true,
Carried with it this assurance:
"I know something good about you?"
Wouldn't life be happier,
If the good that's in us all,
Were the only thing about us
That people would recall?
Wouldn't our days be sweeter,
If we praised the good we see;
For there is a lot of goodness,
In the worst of you and me?
Wouldn't it be fine to practice,
This way of thinking too;
You know something good about me,
I know something good about you?
Wouldn't this world be better,
If folks whom we meet would say
"I know something good about you,"
And treat you just that way?
Wouldn't it be splendid,
If each handshake, good and true,
Carried with it this assurance:
"I know something good about you?"
Wouldn't life be happier,
If the good that's in us all,
Were the only thing about us
That people would recall?
Wouldn't our days be sweeter,
If we praised the good we see;
For there is a lot of goodness,
In the worst of you and me?
Wouldn't it be fine to practice,
This way of thinking too;
You know something good about me,
I know something good about you?
Have an amazing weekend blessing others, seeing the good in them and reconnecting your hearts through laughter, fellowship, service and maybe even through tears!
