Betroth means to arrange for the marriage of
A few verses before this in Hosea 2:16 God says to His people, "And it shall be, in that day. . . that you will call Me 'My Husband,' and no longer call Me 'My Master.'" He wanted to betroth His people to Himself, arrange them differently. The movement was one into an intimate relationship with their Creator, the Faithful one.
I believe these words ring true for us today for our generation . . .
"And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."
