For Your Week Ahead #9

Sometimes we get so focused on what is ahead
we fail to look in the rear view mirror.

This week may the trail of words we leave behind
be those that bless and not curse.

May the glow of God's presence continue to shine
lighting the paths of those who follow.

The ashes of those long, hard days
will be transformed to beauty.

That is a promise.

But you will miss it
unless you stop and look back
and see the portrait the Miracle Maker painted
just for you.

Have a blessed week!

Love, Rachael

This week we will work our butts off trying to make a positive difference
in our homes
in our children
in our workplaces.
At some point we will fail, we will find ourselves overwhelmed, and we will make mistakes.

And it's OK.
Because we can't do it all.  We can't fix every problem.

Failure is our teacher.
And when we get back on track
it teaches others that it's okay to take risks,
that it's safe to make mistakes.

"For it is through our greatest fears, failures, and challenges that we will experience our greatest growth and realize our potential, individually and as a team."  Phil Krumpe

Have a great week!

Love, Rachael (and Phil)

The palm tree against the blue sky is the epitome of California landscape.
And up in the mountains the pines against the backdrop of blue reach epic heights.
I captured these two photos this summer with the intention of storing them away for a rainy day, a day when the sun wasn't shining and I wanted to remember how much I love that blue and  those mountains.

The blue has been gone these last few days,
instead a blanket of smoke from fires burning up those pines in the mountains
suffocate the hue and leave us no choice but to hold our breath underneath it's weight.

This has been our view:

As the clouds begin to lift, I realize that the weight of despair over fires in our lives both great and small don't always go out so quickly.
That is why I take pictures.
To hold on to the good, so when times are hard I can look back.

Photos are memories of what has been and they are hope of what will be again when the fires cease.

What photos do you need to pull out to give you hope that will carry you through this week?

"Oh, that I might have my request, that God would grant what I hope for. . . "  Job 6:8

Here are some blue skies of hope for your week ahead:

Sometimes COURAGE comes in the quietest of times.
Times when we dare to LISTEN instead of speak.
BELIEVING that we are enough
stops the words that try to prove we are.

COURAGE is always visible in the quiet.
It is showing up and allowing yourself to be seen.
It is the evidence of
JOY
CREATIVITY
BELONGING
and LOVE.

It is taking the RISK to love even when there is no guarantee of a return.

Have COURAGE this week!
